An Honorable Right

I am stateside now, happy to be home with my family and friends, after a lengthy time away.  One of the fascinating stories in the Bible is about Philip and the Ethiopian recorded in the book of Acts. 8:26-40. Philip was the first missionary to the Gentiles. He was directed by an angel of God to go to the road that descended from Jerusalem to Gaza. He met an Ethiopian official who was at that time providentially reading Isaiah 53:7-9. Philip was prompted by the Holy Spirit to join the chariot and asked the official if he understood what he was reading. The official said “how could I, unless someone guides me?”. We read further in verses 35 and 37, about Philip teaching the Ethiopian about Jesus straight from the scriptures. The Ethiopian proclaimed,  ”I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”  He is now by his own admission a child of God indeed.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. John 1:12

Jesus gives us the honorable right to be a child of God our Creator, who loves us best.
